The present invention relates to the process for preparation of compositions for the distribution of a drug to a patient's central nervous system, which involves complexing a drug active in a patient's central nervous system with a cyclodextrin, said cyclodextrin including at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of -OCH3, -ROH-RSO3H, -CO2R, -NHR, -NR2, -NROH and -SiR3, where each R is selected independently from C1-10 alkyl groups which can be straight, branched or cyclic.
