The fundamental structure of a plant for processing a mechanically dehydrated filtration sludge mainly consisting of kieselguhr includes a charging device for the filtration sludge to be charged in a sufficiently fine dispersion, a flow dryer unit for drying the charged filtration sludge in a stream of drying gas, a precipitator unit consisting of a cyclone unit and a solids filter for precipitating the granular dry material, a high-temperature treatment chamber for treating the dry material in a treatment gas stream, a hot-gas cyclone unit for precipitating the treated material from the treatment gas stream and a cooling device for the precipitated treated material. The high-temperature treatment chamber is designed as a vortex flow reactor which has a coaxially arranged introduction lance for the dry material. A treatment gas generator is provided upstream of the high-temperature treatment chamber. The hot-gas cyclone unit is provided with a lining of refractory ceramic and equipped for a solids precipitation of about 80 %. A quench-cooling device is provided downstream. The hot-gas outlet from the hot-gas cyclone is connected via a transfer line system to the flow dryer unit. The transfer line system includes injected-water cooling interacting with a process control system. …IMAGE…
