WHEN 2-FUNCTIONAL AND 3-FUNCTIONAL COMPONENTS ARE PRESENT IN AN EPOXY PHENOL-FORMALDEHYDE NOVOLAC RESIN, THE WEIGHT RATIO OF THE 2-FUNCTIONAL COMPONENT TO THE 3-FUNCTIONAL COMPONENT IS LESS THAN 1.1 : 1.WHEN 2-FUNCTIONAL AND 3-FUNCTIONAL COMPONENTS ARE PRESENT IN AN EPOXY ERESOL-FORMALDEHYDE NOVOLAC RESIN,THE WEIGHT RATIO OF THE 2-FUNCTIONAL COMPONENT TO THE 3-FUNCTIONAL COMPONENT IS LESS THAN 0.5 : 1.THE EPOXY NOVOLAC RESINS OF THIS INVENTION WHEN CURED EXHIBIT INCREASED GLASS TRANSITION TEMPERATURES.THESE RESINS ARE USEFUL IN THE PREPARATION OF COMPOSITES, MOLDING, CASTINGS, CAOTING, ADHESIVES AND LAMINATES.
