This invention concerns a method of digitizing in real time a measurement signal with large dynamic range and high sampling frequency and a digitization circuit for implementing the method. This is achieved according to the invention by the measurement signal which can have a large dynamic range being taken in parallel in at least two conductors where it is amplified by different amplification factors, of which one can be the factor one. Thereafter the measurement signal amplified by different amounts is taken to an A/D converter per conductor. For each sampling occasion the largest output signal from an A/D converter is selected which is not over-modulated and is presented together with the amplification factor concerned as the sampling value for this sampling occasion.
