Procedure and apparatus for the collection of floating seaweed from the sea, and particularly of those seaweed products known as mucilage.

A process is described for collecting seaweed floating in the sea, consisting in the separation of the upper layer containing the seaweed from those underlying, and subjecting it to a filtration process with the removal of the water, which it previously contained. A device which performs such process, consisting of a floating structure supplied with means for separating the layer containing the seaweed from those underlying it and forcing it down a pathway wherein filtration elements are arranged in which the seaweed is treated and the water removed. Means being furthermore provided for the simple transformation of said filtration elements into easily manageable containers for the seaweed collected and without any appreciable interruption to the collection function.
