The horizontal belt sander, consists of pulleys and a belt, from which axle derive concrete possibilities of belt path developments in a vast field of excursions for the application of a complete range of belt and contact wheel solutions. Each pulley consists of one roller (6, 6'), particularly rounded, positioned at the extremity (60, 60') of one arm (61, 61'), and pinned, at an axis parallel to that of the roller (6, 6'). The pin (62, 62') of the arm (61, 61') of at least one of the pulleys is keyed to the shaft (63, 63'), and retarded, by at least one reducing gear (66, 66'). The shaft (64, 64'), conductor or on the fly, is controllable at a distance, by means of poles (65, 65') and knobs (67, 67'), available in a position which is comfortable for the operator.
