The aqueous solution forming the subject-matter of this patent application is characterized in that it consists basically of 1000 parts of water in which are dissolved from 5 to 1000 parts of carbolic acid diamide and from 5 to 50 parts of liquid soap free of base. This solution, in the presence of air, at an ambient temperature varying between approximately -8 degree C and approximately +8 degree C, absorbs the constituent gases of the air itself, in particular nitrogen and oxygen. If this solution, in a suitable container, is placed in a refrigerator operating at the abovementioned temperatures, it will help to keep perishable substances kept in the container, especially substances intended for food use.
