Process for the preparation and for the use of novel 3- bromo-5-chloro-2,6-dialkoxybenzoic acids

Novel 3-bromo-5-chloro-2,6-dialkoxybenzoic acids II in which R1 is C1-C3-alkyl are prepared by a 2,6- dialkoxybenzoic acid either being initially brominated and the resulting 3-bromo-2,6-dialkoxybenzoic acid then being chlorinated, or being initially chlorinated and the resulting 3-chloro-2,6-dialkoxybenzoic acid then being brominated. The novel compounds can be used to prepare pharmacologically valuable 2,6-dialkoxybenzamides. IMAGE
