ABSTRACTA microwave mixer suitable for millimeter wave radarapplications. A semi-insulating gallium arsenide dielectricwaveguide structure contains an embedded planar doped barrier(PDB) structure as a non-linear mixing element. The localoscillator (LO) signal is guided to the PDB structure via acoplanar type waveguide. The radio frequency (RF) signal isguided to the PDB structure via an image guide and a microstripcircuit serves to transmit the intermediate frequency (IF).
