METHOD OF TREATING MUSCLE TENSION,MUSCLE SPASTICITY AND ANXIETY WITH 3-ARYL-OXYAZETIDINECARBOXAMIDESABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA method of treating animals to obtain muscle relaxationand/or to relieve anxiety is disclosed utilizing novel andknown 3-aryloxyazetidinecarboxamides having the formula:wherein Z is oxygen or sulfur; Ar is pyridyl or halosubstituted pyridyl, phenyl or substituted phenyl; R1 and R2are hydrogen, loweralkyl, aryl, allyl groups, propargyl,cycloalkyl, loweralkylcycloalkyl, cycloalkylloweralkyl,arylloweralkyl and diloweralkylaminoalkyl, and R1 and R2when taken together with the adjacent nitrogen atom mayform a heterocyclic amine radical; R3 is hydrogen, lower-alkyl, aryl or arylloweralkyl, and the geometrical isomersthereof and pharmaceutical salts thereof when they arepossible.
