Abstract of the DisclosureA computer-aided method for predicting thelayup of fiber-reinforced prepreg resin material forcompression molding into three-dimensional shapesdepends on the area relationships of the final thicknessof the molded shape to the initial thirkness of theprepreg material. A graphic display is generatedincorporating the initial thickness needed at eachlocation on the prepreg material to provide the desiredfinal thickness of the three-dimensional shape withcontrolled fiber distribution throughout the shape.10.11
