AbstractAn in-furnace sorbent slurry injection process forthe simultaneous control of SO2 and NOx from power plantflue gases is described. An aqueous slurry of limestoneor dolomite-doped limestone and a nitrogenous progenitorcompound is injected into the furnace at temperaturesranging between 900°C and 1350°C, optimizing operatingparameters for maximum SO2 and NOx capture. Underoptimized operating conditions with urea selected as thenitrogenous progenitor, about 80% of the SO2 and 90% ofthe NO. are simultaneously removed.
