Abstract of the DisclosureA damper comprising within a casing filled with viscousfluid a number of movable discs to be moved in response tothe transmitted external force and a number of notinterlocked fixed discs arranged in an alternativearrangement, wherein both movable and fixed discs are axiallydeflectable can maintain even clearances between the movableand the fixed discs due to the alignment effect of the discswithout undergoing unreasonable stress that can damage thediscs. The allowable limit of deflection of said fixed andmovable discs can be made adjustable so as to modify thetotal drag of the damper. Sources of resilient restoringforce may be provided to enhance the capability ofadjustment. Moreover, the number or the size of the movableand/or the fixed discs can be made alterable to effectivelymodify the drag of the damper.Such a damper may be provided with deformable feelerelements in order to maintain a desired level of viscous drayregardless of fluctuation of ambient temperature. Similarly,both or either of the movable and the fixed discs may berealized with a material which is sensible to and deformablewith temperature change. Additionally, a damper may beprovided with a resilient external force to automaticallyprotect its damping effect against fluctuation of ambienttemperature.
