BACTERIA AND ITS USE IN A MICROBIAL PROFILE MODIFICATION PROCESS

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThe present invention is a bacteria and its usein a Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR) process. Anyone of two newly isolated strains of bacteria are injected,along with a nutrient solution, downhole in a petroleumreservoir to modify its profile. This bacteria has thecapability to plug the zones of higher permeability withinthe reservoir so that a subsequent waterflood may selec-tively enter the oil bearing less permeable zones. Theinjected water is used to drive this oil to an area whereit may then be recovered.
