TAMPER PROOF SYSTEM FOR DISPOSABLE LIQUID RESERVOIR AND COOPERATING ACCURATE METERING SYSTEM

A portable liquid reservoir and delivery assembly particularly suited to ambulatory patients in which liquid under pressure from an expansible container is metered through a valve system under electronic control which includes valve means for filling and emptying a dosage chamber for metering the liquid. The reservoir can be filled initially through an elastic septum, which is protected by a tamper proof cap, which prevents re-use of the reservoir, and which ensures that delivery of medicament can only take place if the cap is properly Installed. A sensor for the dosage chamber allows accurate delivery of liquid, regardless of minor variations in assembled location between the reservoir/valve pack and the electronics control unit. A priming key for the system which overrides the inherent safety features to allow initial flow and elimination of air from the system is also described.
