The invention relates to a method for parametric modeling of a shooting system comprising a real camera mounted on a mobile support, by means of a host computer. The method according to the invention is characterized in that a plurality of real images are generated by the shooting system, each containing at least one control point whose geometric position in real space is known; for each real image thus generated, a plurality of geometrical and optical magnitudes captured by different sensors provided on the image-taking system are measured, and the values of the magnitudes captured are transmitted to the host computer; informing the host computer of the position of each control point in each image; and the image-taking system is modeled by a calculation relating all of the information relating to the position of the different control points to the corresponding values of the quantities captured. The invention facilitates the easy determination in a host computer connected to a real camera forming part of a shooting system, of a parametric model of the real camera analogous to a virtual camera. When this parametric model is realized, it is still necessary that the computer creates for each real image a virtual image which is geometrically coherent. The invention therefore also aims, after having created a virtual camera by means of a parametric model of a real camera forming part of a shooting system, the realization at all times of a dynamic coupling between the two cameras real and virtual ensuring a perfect coherence between each real image and each virtual image of a series of images and allowing a control from the virtual camera to the real camera and vice versa.
