METHOD BASED OM HISTORICAL ANALYSIS FOR IDENTIFYING A FAULTY COMPUTER SYSTEM UNIT

in a method of detecting faulty units in a system controlled by computer, the units of the system reported errors in response to the detection of fault conditions.when an error is reported, a list is generated containing weighting factors likely failures for each unit of the system, on the basis of the type of error reporting.the weighting factors likely failures are specified in advance based on a logical analysis of the failure modes and routes of propagation of errors in the system. a history of the weighting factors of failures is first aged and then combined with the initial list to produce a list of results.the result is the new historical list and then masked by the initial list to form a list from which the unit, the more likely one is chosen.
