Measuring process for monitoring and controlling ring- (2) and traveller- (3) spinning or twisting machines which may comprise an upstream drawing-out (take-off) device and in which machines a yarn (48) is continuously wound onto bobbins (50) installed on spindles, in which process the rotational speed of each yarn (48) driven by a traveller (3) is measured, in which control signals for the regulation of the speed of the spindles and/or of the drawing devices of the spinning or twisting machine are processed, these control signals being supplied by a computational unit and in which this computational unit takes into account, in addition to the instantaneous value of the rotational speed of the yarns, at least one of the instantaneous values of the following parameters: speed of supply of the drawing device, position, duration and speed of the ring rail supporting the rings (2), and speed of rotation of the spindles supporting the bobbins (50).
