The air vent is provided between the frame (1) and a cooperating door or panel edge (2) and has a longitudinal circular brush (3), or brush strip, to prevent ingress of dust and/or insects. Pref. the bristles of the circular brush (3) or brush strip are made of plastics and are flexible to allow matching of the edge irregularities. The bristles may be electrostatically charged. ADVANTAGE - Effective ventilation without ingress of dust etc.
