Tool changer for a welding robot consists of a two-part locking unit (22), lockable by spring force and releasable by a compressed air piston-cylinder (48,50,56) arrangement in an active part of the unit on the robot side. The passive part is on the welding jaws side with a base plate (26) attached to the base plate (24) of the active part via locking hooks (76) which are pivoted towards each other for unlocking the connection.
