Double steel band press for e.g. chipboard - has extra e.g. induction type heater at entrance to heat edges of bands under close control to compensate for heat losses

The system operates a continuous press for the prodn. of chipboards, fibre boards, laminates etc. The press has two endless steel pressure bands passing round the top and bottom of the press and round guide rollers; they are controlled along their straight paths; they form the press daylight where (at least) they are heated by heated plates and (if required) also by a hot roller. Before they enter the daylight area the longitudinal edges of the bands are heated additionally; this heating being regulated so that is compensates for the heat losses which arise at the edges. The two steel bands (4) pass round guide rollers (3) before entering the mouth (5) of the press proper (6). In the latter area (6), they (4) move over heated plates and can also be heated again by the roller (3). At the entry end (5) there is a heater (7) which heats the edges of the bands. ADVANTAGE - The system ensures that both the steel bands and the pressed material do not suffer temp. drops during operations.
