Au and Ag are leached from particulate cuts and cut concentrates contg. at least one of these metals by intimate contact with an aq. leaching soln. contg. 0.005-2.5 wt.% cyanide and having a pH of 8-13, in the presence of at least one peroxoborate cpd. liberating O. The amt. of cpd. is up to 20 pts. wt. per 1000 pts. wt. material. After exposure for an adequate period of time, the Au and Ag cyano-complexes formed are sepd. ADVANTAGE - Improved efficiency of extn. with reduced requirement for chemicals.
