The multi-cylinder supercharged Diesel engine has the cylinders arranged in V information. The turbine driven supercharger (5) is mounted at one end of the crankscase and the compressed air is delivered to a cooler (8) at the other end of the crankcase through a duct (6). This duct runs between the two banks of cylinders. The cooled air leaving the cooler flows through a second duct which is connected to the inlet ports of the engine cylinders. This second duct (7) also runs between the two banks of cylinders and is directly above the first duct. USE/ADVANTAGE - Compact design of the engine.
