In a pref. arrangement, a hydraulic cylinder (44) is used to maintain a guide roller (28) in firm location on the vertical surface (31) of a slope stone. The displacement piston (45) of the hydraulic cylinder is connected via its connecting rod (46) with the edge limiting device (7). A hydraulic pump (48) aspirating from a tank (47) is connected to the control chambers (52, 53) of the hydraulic cylinder (44) via a 4/3 way valve (49) and two work conduits (50, 51). A conduit (57) leads from the valve (49) via a quantity distributor (54), a ball cock (55), and a check valve (56) to the work conduit (51) connected to the control chamber (53). The conduit (57) is protected against overload by a pressure limitation valve (58) which empties into the tank (47). USE/ADVANTAGE - For road surface laying, to ensure that an even edge line of the laid material is produced.
