Weft shear for loom - has independent drive mechanism, allowing pneumatically driven shear blade to act independently of loom motion

A thread cutting mechanism on a loom is independent of the weft insertion or loom drive. A pneumatic cylinder drive is connected to the first shear blade. A second section is hinged to the first as an angular lever, with the lever arm enclosed in a side gate. The pneumatic cylinder is pref. fixed to the loom in a suitable position, and connected to the air supply. The first blade is attached to the cylinder mechanism. Hinged by a nut and bolt, is the angular shear with lever arm. The lever arm is enclosed in a slot formed on a bracket. Two stops at the end of the slot form a gate, to press on the end of the lever. This closes the shear as the cylinder presses forward the first blade, and opens the shear as it springs back. USE - To shear the weft independently of the loom motion, and when it has been determined that no further action on the weft insert is necessary.
