The bearing shaft (1) is used in conjunction with bearer arms (11), the shaft having projections and the arms recesses for angularly accurate, coodinated positioning on the bearing shaft. The bearer arms are fitted in a clamp jaw arrangement, and are adjustable as to length by releasing or tightening the clamp jaws. They are formed by two parallel bearer bars (13, 14). In the end areas of the bearer arms are rollers (17) which are so arranged that they permit a rolling movement around the central bearing shaft (1). The rope saw runs over changeover rollers, each of which is contained in a housing (25) which has an elastic sealing means in the area of its edge facing the material to be sawn.
