The roller shutter slides up and down the outside of the window opening and is controlled by a processor control (1). Light sensors on the window pane, temperature sensors outside the window, a time clock and a glass breakage sensor all contribute to the processor control for fully automatic operation. When the shutter is first installed the processor is programmed for the required partially lowered and fully lowered settings of the shutter. The shutter settings are monitored simply by impulse counting of the drive mechanism, torque monitoring of the electric motor drive (8) or other suitable means. A simple RAM in the processor is programmed with the required operation. The glass breakage sensor operates a fail-safe closure of the shutter. ADVANTAGE - Programmable, fully automatic operation.
