The device has an oil separator (1) coupled to the coolant circuit of the refrigeration appts. via a tap-off valve (3) to allow simultaneous removal of the cooling medium and the compressor oil. The oil separator has a vacuum stage for separation of the cooling medium and the compressor oil. The cooling medium is fed to the suction side (8) of a compressor (6). Its pressure side (21) is coupled to a heat exchanger (22) for liquifying the cooling medium. The separated compressor oil is fed to an oil reservoir (15) via an oil pump (14). USE - Environmentally safe disposal of cooling medium.
