Ceramic lining panel providing an impact and abrasion resisting surface has a ceramic layer bonded to a segmental iron base plate, provided with anchored bolts for fixing. - Pref. a 30 deg. segmental floor plate for a large mixer comprises an iron base plate (10) with a factory applied layer of alumina ceramic tiles (12). A hole (16) at the centre of the panel allows pourable, quick-setting polymer mortar to be injected to fill any free space between the panel and the mixer barrel. The form of the panel depends on the particular application, and panels may be either rigidly or flexibly mounted on the mixer. Counter-sunk, slotted taper-head bolts (14) are effectively embedded in the panel, below the ceramic layer, so that the threaded portions can engage fixing holes in the mixer, and be secured by external hexagon nuts. For linear plates requiring resilient fixing, the embedded bolt heads are cushioned by elastomeric washers. The alumina ceramic layer is typically 12-17mm in thickness.
