The contents of a package are secured by cord or tape which is tied around the package. The cord or tape is formed into a loop by means of a rectangular guide frame (4). The package (1) is transported by a roller conveyor (2) to the packing machine (6) which holds the guide frame in a plane which is inclined to the horizontal. The package is brought inside the loop formed by the guide frame. The machine then swings the guide frame to a horizontal position so that the cord or tape encircles the package. The cord or tape is then removed from the guide frame and tied around the package. USE - Packing machinery.
