The washing and rinsing liq. to be heated flows through the hollow cylinder with an external heating winding and liq. inlet and outlet. The cylinder (2) has two separate throughflow channels (6,7) in series for the liq. stream. One channel (6) is joined to the inlet (4) and the other (7) to the outlet (5). Both the inlet and the outlet are at the same end of the hollow cylinder, the other end being curved to divert the liq. stream. The separate channels are formed by a dividing wall (10) extending along the length of the cylinder but ending before reaching the deflecting end (8). The latter can be provided with a diverting cowl (9). ADVANTAGE - Reduced space requirement. Energy saving operation.
