Binder, consisting of a liq. component (I) of vegetable origin, e.g. a vegetable oil, homogeneously mixed with a solid resin (II), esp. for use in paints, lacquers, adhesives, etc. contains a milk casein soln. (III) as stabilising emulsifier. Pref.' (III) consists of milk casein (IV), and alkaline decomposing agent, e.g. borax, boric acid and tap water. (II) is a vegetable resin, a resin produced by boiling vegetable resins and oils or an alkali(ne earth) soap of a vegetable resin or oil. (I) pref. is linseed oil (IA) or boiled (IA) (e.g. (IA)-stand oil). The binder is prepd. by mixing (II) homogeneously with (I) and then adding (III); pref. melting (II) with (I) and mixing with (I) at the same temp. or dispersing (II) or (I) with a dissolver or stirrer. ADVANTAGE - The binder can be diluted with water and is free from harmful emissions. It is environmentally friendly or can be produced cheaply.
