Studying oxygen@-ionising processes - in which oxygen@ partial pressure is measured in lay of aq. medium less than 1 mm thick between oxygen@ sensor and oxygen@-consuming object
In studying oxygen-consuming processes, the redn. in oxygen partial pressure produced by an oxygen-consuming object in an aq. medium is measured against time. The partial pressure measurement is made in a layer less than 1 mm thick between the oxygen-consuming object and the oxygen sensor. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in the continuous measurement of the absolute oxygen partial pressure in an aqueous medium in which oxygen-binding processes or oxygen-requiring enzymatic or chemical reactions are in progress, or which contain oxygen-consuming cells, tissues or parts of organs or organisms. The vol. of the aq. medium used is dramatically reduced, and therefore larger variations in the partial pressure with time are produced and the measurements are more accurate and require less time and are less susceptible to interference or interruption.
