A measuring device or scriber (16) moves on a slider (17) along the edge of the plate (11) between upper and lower rails (14,15). A toolholder (21) is secured to a transverse arm (20) protruding from a clamp (19) on an upright post (18). The slider (17) rolls on strictly parallel guidance surfaces of the vertical limb (25) of the upper rails (14) and on the head (22) of the lower rail (15). Both rails are adjusted by repositioning of set screws (9,36). ADVANTAGE - Easily adjustable with rails fixed at more widely sepd. points requiring fewer fixing holes.
