Thermoelectric generator operating at low temp. - having at least 2 chambers at different temps. has at least one sodium poly-sulphide cpd. in both chambers which are sepd. by solid electrolyte membrane
The thermoelectric generator, which has at least 2 chambers held at different temps. (3,4), features at least one Na-polysulphide cpd. in both chambers and a solid electrolyte membrane (5) sepg. the chambers which allows passage of alkali-ions. The first chamber (3) is held at pref. 400-500 deg.C. and the other (4) at 200-300 deg.C. A provision (2E) is made for excess Na-polysulphide to drain from the cooler chamber into the hot chamber. A condenser (6) condenses the vaporised S and leads it into the cool chamber (4). The hot chamber is pref. heated by a natural source, e.g. sunlight bundled by a parabolic mirror (7), or artificial process. USE/ADVANTAGE - The element can be operated at a lower temp. than current Na-based elements. There is no requirement to pump back a constituent or to adapt the return flow to the energy being drained from the element.
