The exchange has decentral and central controls, with counter system memory in each control. Each memory consists of a result counter memory, a time memory, and a duration memory. From the exchange command data are derived addresses and control criteria for the memories in an addressing device. First the engagement numbers reach the result counter memory, while the start and end time periods are deposited in the time memory for the individual engagement. A subtracting device is coupled to the time memory, subtracting the start time period from the end time period at the end of each engagement. The time difference is added up in the duration memory.
