A method of converting sinusoidal sensor signals of a high resolution position measurement system for greater object speeds involves generating a staircase sinusoidal signal with amplitude dependent on the sensor signal and frequency dependent on a carrier frequency. Product signals formed in modulation branches are combined to form a position signal whose phase w.r.t. the carrier signal represents the position. Each partial signal formed by a divider circuit is actively switched in parallel using actively switched tapping switches whoses actively switched partial signals are added to the modulation branch product signal. USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables conversion of sinusoidal position measurement signals for high object speeds without temp. and speed dependent position measurement errors.
