The tank (1) is filled with a toxic or otherwise dangerous liq. especially a liq. with a high vapour pressure, using a system which prevents the emission of any dangerous vapour. The tank is filled with the liq. through a pipe (2) which is connected to the tank through a three-way valve (8). Any vapour is drawn off through the suction pipe (4) which is connected to the tank through a second three-way valve. When filling the tank the first three-way valve (8) connects the filler pipe (2) to the tank, the second three-way valve (9) connects the suction pipe (4) to the tank whilst the connection (10) between the valves is closed. When flushing the pipes with nitrogen, the filler and suction pipes are shut off, the tank and the connection (10) between the valves (8,9) is open. USE/ADVANTAGE - Filling a tank with a dangerous liq. The system prevents the emission of dangerous vapour.
