The cavity is defined by a surface (F1) of revolution about the y axis. The sum of the squares of x and y co-ordinates lies between the squares of two selected parameters (a,b), and y is greater than m times the modulus of x, where m is the contangent of a small angle (e.g. 10 deg.). Resonance frequencies between 8.483 and 15.94 GHz for the first 11 modes are tabulated. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for measurement of microwave surface impedance of high-temp. superconductors. The simple device suffers no degeneration between H0mn and E1mn modes.
