A tunable coaxial cylindrical resonator with an inner conductor (1) and an outer conductor (2). Between the two conductors (1,2) are a plurality of carrier plates (7) axial to and surrounding the inner conductor (1). Yokes (10) concentrate a variable magnetic field, produced by a ring spool (6), on the layered plates (7) so that the spreading out of the field on the inner conductor (1) is reduced. USE/ADVANTAGE - Ensures good heat dispersion through the ferrite material. The magnetic field needed to magnetise the ferrite has very small effect on the resonator inner conductor.
