Lightning energy storage plant with voltage distribution transformers - arranged in simple, parallel and series circuits with sec. winding output rectifiers and storage capacitors

Current is conducted from an electrode (1) at the ridge of the roof through an insulated wire to the prim. sides of transformers (2) connected in parallel and series, with a line (3) completing the path to earth (4). Series connection of several transformer stages (5) is expedient to reduce risk of h.v. breakdown in their windings. Pulses of sec. energy are rectified (6) for storage in capacitors (7) with protection of the sec. windings from reverse currents. ADVANTAGE - Economic use of lightning energy facilitated by impulsive voltage reception and storage capabilities of capacitors.
