Electromagnetic armour plating, partic. against metal projectiles and pref. for "rod type" shells, hollow change fire etc. has two successive and separate plates of conducting material, at least one of which is raised to an electrical potential; at least one condensor is also in parallel with at least each two conducting plates. The dielectric between the plates is pref. polyethylene, unplasticised PVC, "Pertinax" (R.T.N), GRP or similar. ADVANTAGE - The prod. is free from the problems of existing types of armour plating such as great wt./thickness when needed (hence suitability here for e.g. vehicles) or limited applicability.
