The inner basket formation (2) of the helmet has an all-round strip (3) acting as head band, together with further strips running in star formation (5) to a central point (4) between which are aerating intermdeiate spaces (6). The head band is of thicker material than the other strips. A breathing protection mask (7) is incorporated, which has a viewing plate (8) and two connections (9,10) with filters and valves for the aspirated and exhaled air. On both sides, the breathing protection mask has strip-shaped projections (11) in which are buttonhole-type apertures (12) accommodating mushroom-shaped bolts (13).
