A siphon for a line conveying fine granular solids between a solids separator and a combustion chamber, in which granular fuel is burned in a fluidised bed as a gas-solids mixt., and subsequently sepd. outside of the bed, with the separated solids being returned to the bed via a siphon line which itself comprises a fluidising section with an upwards directed gas flow and an outlet into the combustion chamber is claimed. The fluidising section of the siphon processes a floor provided with gas inlet jets, so that the floor is not extended to greater than 0.8 - 2.0 times the dia. of the siphon feed line. The outlet of the siphon feed line discharges directly into the fluidising section of the siphon above its floor level, and the angle (X) between the direction of solids flow in the feed line and the direction of conveyance within the fluidised section is not greater than 60 deg.. The vertical sepn. (S) between the upper edge of the solids feed inlet discharge mouth and the lower edge of the solids outlet from the fluidised section of the siphon, amounts to 0.7 - 5.0 times the dia. of the feed line. USE/ADVANTAGE - Return of entrainment solids from a prim. cyclone separator to a fluidised bed appts., with reduced tendencies for blockage formation and attrition etc. due to horizontal movement along containment surfaces.
