Electrodes for thermo-transfer printer - has bare tips and coating of mixed silicone elastomer and copper@ powder to provide long service lift with uniform quality printing

A thermo-transfer printing machine has a printing ribbon with an electrical resistance for use in non-impact printing by means of an electrode head which has a W plate coated on both sides with a polyimide film bonded on, the one film is bonded to a silicone elastomer applied to a substrate plate. The tips of the electrodes are ground bare. The outer covering layer adjacent to the ground tips is a mixt. of silicone elastomer VGS 200 and Cu powder, whilst the film coating is a mixt. of a silicone elastomer and talcum powder. The materials used pref. include a Siloprene primer on the electrodes. ADVANTAGE - The system produces an electro-thermal ribbon type action, but one in which the printing head has a long service life and produces a uniform quality of printing. (Dwg.6/6)
