Corrosion protection and low friction coating of steel parts - by drum coating with metal as corrosion protection and metal salts of higher fatty acids as friction reducer

Process comprises drum coating with metals as corrosion protection and with the addn. of metal salts of higher fatty acids to the coating compsn. as friction reducer. Pref. friction reducers are Al and/or Ca salts of stearic acid. The friction reducer is pref. incorporated in the final stage of the plating treatment. USE/ADVANTAGE - The metal salts can be used with all coating metals and do not deposit out in the plating baths but give uniform protective layers. The low friction coatings are esp. useful on fasteners such as screws, bolts, nuts, bearing parts and (esp.) on self tapping screws to facilitate insertion and to avoid damage to the threads.
