The radial bearing between a stator and a rotor uses at least three concentric rings (1, 2, 13), spaced along a common axis and attached in alteration to the stator and the rotor. The rings are made of permanent magnetic and soft magnetic materials, so as to obtain a flux field parallel to the axis in each air-gap (10, 11) between axially adjacent rings, opposing forces of attraction acting on the centre ring (13). The two outer rings (1, 2) have opposing magnetisation directions. Pref., the outer rings have permanent magnetic rings (3, 4) radially magnetised in opposite directions, the magnetic flux passing through pole rings (15, 16) of the centre ring. ADVANTAGE - Improved radial/axial inflexibility ratio.
