Apart from single soundproofing walls located along the verge of highways, it is possible to have a dual arrangement (10,11) for central reservations on dual carriageways, whereby the sound is reflected backwards towards the road in both directions. In both cases the walls are retained at their feet in a U-shaped profile by means of screws (12) which join the dual plates to one another. By virtue of the curvature of the walls, and their profiling, a relatively thin plate can be used, e.g. 1 mm thick. It is preferable for the walls to be composed of individual plates extending over the total height of the wall. USE/ADVANTAGE - To reduce environmentally harmful traffic noise from busy highways.
