Laminated sterilisable fabric for surgical applications - has water vapour permeable polyurethane film core thermally bonded to fabric outer layers

Laminated material for medical applications comprising a layer of water vapour permeable polyurethane film made by applying a mixt. of a polymeric masked isocyanate and a polyvalent amine to a pref. carrier and crosslinking, covered on both sides by a layer of textile material. Pref. the textile material at least on one side of the laminate is of a knitted polyester fabric roughened on one side. Laminating of the textile layers to the polyurethane layer is pref. carried out thermally without using adhesives. Pref. the total wt. of the material is 150-400 g/m2, esp. 200-250 g/m2 and the water vapour permeability is more than 2000 g/24 h.m2 (Lyssy method). USE/ADVANTAGE - The layered material is water-tight and particle-tight, has good water vapour permeability and an absorbent surface. The prod. is resistant to boil washing and sterilisation and is esp. useful for making operating theatre drapes, covers and clothing
