The recording system has the image carrier (B), frequency modulated by the light density signals, and the colour carrier (F) modulated by the colour signals, recorded along an inclined recording track (A) along the magnetic tape (M), which is divided into 2 adjacent partial track (A1, A2). A respective magnetic recording head (K1, K2) is provided for each partial track (A1, A2) for separate recording of the image carrier (B) and the colour carrier (F). The first partial track (A1) used for the image carrier (B) pref. has a greater width, the 2 tracks (A1, A2) pref. separated by a ridge (R). ADVANTAGE - Increased recording bandwidth.
